83 percent of applicants to South Dakota School of Mines and Technology were admitted for fall 2018

At South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, 90 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 76 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Rapid City enrolled 2,654 students in fall 2018, including 2,304 in undergraduate and 350 in graduate programs, data shows. 2.3 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

39 percent of undergraduates are residents of South Dakota, and 59 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (83 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (5 percent).

The school admitted 83 percent of the 1,451 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 38 percent enrolled.
