88 percent of applicants to Black Hills State University were admitted for fall 2018

At Black Hills State University, 78 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 64 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Spearfish enrolled 4,035 students in fall 2018, including 3,745 in undergraduate and 290 in graduate programs, data shows. 6.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

69 percent of undergraduates are residents of South Dakota, and 30 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (80 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (5 percent).

The school admitted 88 percent of the 1,858 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 30 percent enrolled.
