City of Belle Fourche is currently looking to fill the position of Solid Waste Collector. This position is mainly outdoors in all weather conditions, collecting trash and garbage on assigned residential routes in the City of Belle Fourche. $16.87-17.73 DOE plus benefits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Operate with considerable skill a solid waste collector truck and other trucks of various sizes as owned and operated by the City on assigned streets, roadways, and alleys, observing all traffic and environmental regulations and safety precautions
• Monitor and collect trash from totes and dumpsters for residences, mobile home courts and apartment complexes
• Drive the loaded sanitation truck to the City’s designated landfill and dispose of the trash and garbage according to the established procedures of the landfill
• Maintain the sanitation truck and related equipment
• Schedule preventive and routine maintenance to identify mechanical problems,
• Observe safety precautions, rules and regulations
• See that the alleys, streets and roadways are kept clear of debris and unauthorized discarded materials, and notify patron if garbage is not properly handled for disposal
• Report charges, fees and violations to the City Services office for billing, collection and disposition.
• Perform snow removal and sanding as needed
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
• or one to three months related experience and/or training;
• or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Valid driver’s license
• Must have or be able to obtain within one year of hire, a Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with Air Brakes and Tanker Endorsement
