The Workforce Diversity Network of the Black Hills is hosted the ninth annual awards breakfast this morning at The Rushmore Hotel. October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and the awards breakfast recognizes several businesses and organizations for their work, efforts and advocacy for employment of people with disabilities.
Former South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard was the keynote speaker for the event. Rapid City Councilman Jason Salamun shared a mayoral proclamation recognizing October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Rapid City organizations receiving awards at the event included the City of Rapid City’s Human Resources Department, Qdoba Mexican Grill, Fleet and Farm, and Magnum Enterprises. Accepting the award for the City's Human Resources Department were Human Resources Director Nick Stroot and Human Resources Generalist Kim Dodd.
