U.S. Senator John Thune has recently highlighted the urgent need to reform the parole system, particularly in relation to border security. In an interview with Stuart Varney on Fox Business, Senator Thune expressed his concerns about the abuse of parole by President Biden, which has resulted in 95 percent of individuals who cross the southern border illegally being admitted into the country.

Thune emphasized the significance of parole reform in achieving effective border security. He stated, "We have to close the southern border, and this president has shown no interest in it. And the reason parole's important is because if you get into the United States today illegally, you have a 95 percent chance of being released into the interior."

The senator further explained that the release of 1.2 million people who have crossed the border illegally this year is facilitated by the abuse and unlawful use of parole authority. Thune emphasized the need to address this issue in order to reduce the incentives for illegal immigration and effectively secure the border.

Thune also highlighted the importance of border security in relation to national security. He stated, "You've got to defend our southern border, it's a national security crisis there as well." The senator expressed optimism that comprehensive border reforms, including parole reform, can be achieved to ensure operational control of the southern border.

In addition to parole reform, Thune stressed the need to address other elements such as asylum and expedited removal in any comprehensive border security package. He emphasized the importance of fixing the vulnerabilities in the system to protect the nation from potential national security risks.

Regarding America's standing on the world stage, Thune mentioned that weaknesses rather than strengths are what tempt adversaries. While the United States faces challenges and risks globally, Thune believes that addressing border security and other vulnerabilities at home is crucial to maintaining a strong position internationally.

Senator John Thune's remarks underline the critical need for parole reform as part of comprehensive border security measures. By addressing these issues, the United States can effectively secure its borders, reduce illegal immigration, and protect national security interests.
