U.S. Senator John Thune from South Dakota addressed the Senate Republican leadership press conference, introducing the new Senate Republican leadership team for the 119th Congress. During his remarks, Thune emphasized a shift in direction for the United States Senate.

"Good afternoon, and thank you all for being here. It's a new day in the United States Senate, and it's a new day in America," he stated. He attributed this change to what he described as a rejection by the American people of the "failed policies of the Biden-Harris-Schumer agenda."

Thune expressed enthusiasm about working with colleagues to advance President Trump's agenda. He emphasized that Republicans have been given a mandate by voters not only to address issues left by previous administrations but also to focus on priorities set by President Trump.

"We will make sure that the president and his team have the tools and support that they need to enforce border security laws and to remove the violent criminals who are wreaking havoc in every one of our states," Thune said.

He outlined plans to enhance America's prosperity through reducing bureaucratic hurdles and reversing regulations implemented under Biden-Harris administration. Additionally, he highlighted goals related to restoring American energy dominance, which he believes will lower costs and improve national security.

"I'm excited to get to work with this team right away," Thune added, thanking his colleagues for their trust in him as leader. He committed himself to serve all members of the Republican conference regardless of past support.

"We will have an ambitious agenda, and it will take each and every Republican working together to be successful," concluded Thune.
