U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune addressed the Senate, expressing unity and readiness among Republicans to start working on their agenda. He congratulated President Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance on their electoral victory.

"Mr. President, in just a few minutes senators will head over to the chamber of the House of Representatives to count the electoral votes and certify the election of Donald Trump and JD Vance as president and vice president of the United States," Thune stated.

Thune highlighted the Republican Party's improved performance in recent elections, noting increased support across various demographics. "The Republican coalition is broad and strong – and growing!" he remarked.

He outlined key priorities for Republicans, including addressing border security issues, strengthening national defense, ensuring economic stability, promoting energy independence, and confirming Trump's Cabinet nominees promptly.

“We’re committed to ending the Biden-Harris border crisis, securing our southern border, restoring respect for the rule of law,” Thune said. He emphasized that Republicans are focused on providing tax relief for Americans and enhancing national security through energy policies.

Reflecting on past challenges under the previous administration, Thune expressed optimism about future prospects with new leadership. "It’s been a tough four years for the American people... But I believe that a brighter future is ahead."

Thune concluded by affirming his commitment to working alongside Trump, Vance, and fellow Republicans in Congress to achieve these goals.
