U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune appeared on The Will Cain Show on Fox News to discuss several key issues, including the confirmation of President Trump's nominees, budget reconciliation, and international negotiations.
Regarding the swift confirmation of nominees, Thune highlighted the cooperation among colleagues: “[I]t’s… a team effort, and we’ve had really good cooperation among our colleagues for the most part when it comes to getting the entire team in place, and Kash Patel is no exception. Tomorrow, we’ll vote to confirm him as director of the FBI… we haven’t seen this number of folks get confirmed in this short of a time, literally, since 2001." He acknowledged challenges from Democrats but emphasized perseverance: “[T]he Democrats have been… using dilatory tactics... but we just keep bearing down.”
Thune also addressed budget reconciliation efforts aimed at supporting President Trump's agenda: “[Y]ou’ve got folks here who are all heading to the same destination... that is to get the president the tools that he needs to accomplish his agenda.” He stressed priorities such as border security and military rebuilding.
On international matters, Thune commented on negotiations between Ukraine and Russia: “[T]he administration wants to bring this war to an end... We want peace.” He expressed hope for a resolution that ensures regional security.
