Thune emphasized Loeffler's deep connection to small business, noting her upbringing on a family farm in Illinois and her experience working in soybean fields and restaurants. He stated, "Small business is in Kelly Loeffler’s blood."
Loeffler was described as having a successful career in business after being the first in her family to graduate from college. Thune quoted her saying she has spent her life "working in small businesses, starting them, growing them, and helping them succeed."
Thune reflected on his own experience at the SBA under President Reagan, expressing confidence that Loeffler would effectively run the agency. He noted her previous service in the U.S. Senate during a crucial year for small business policy.
In 2020, Loeffler focused on supporting Georgia's small businesses amid challenges like the pandemic and ensuring relief efforts were appropriately directed. Thune also mentioned issues such as inflation, workforce challenges, regulations, and natural disasters impacting small businesses.
