U.S. Senator John Thune from South Dakota released a statement in response to President Trump's recent address to Congress. Thune expressed optimism about the future, highlighting the challenges faced over the past four years, including rising costs and issues at the southern border.

"After a tough four years of rising costs, lawlessness at the southern border, and a weakening of America on the world stage, the time has finally come to turn the page and get our country back on track," said Thune. He emphasized that American voters provided President Trump and Congressional Republicans with a "decisive mandate" in November to address these issues by securing borders, enhancing energy independence, and strengthening military capabilities.

Thune noted that Senate Republicans are actively working to support President Trump's agenda. "In addition to moving at an aggressive pace to get the president’s full team in place as soon as possible, we have already passed legislation to help crack down on illegal immigration and start dismantling costly regulations imposed by the Biden administration," he stated.

He further mentioned ongoing efforts aimed at extending tax relief for families and reducing government spending. According to Thune, these changes represent a necessary shift from what he described as "the Biden administration’s failed policies," which he believes have adversely affected families both in South Dakota and nationwide.
