U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune engaged in a discussion with Sean Hannity on Fox News, focusing on the agenda laid out by Senate Republicans. Thune emphasized collaboration with the President and the House on legislation dubbed the "big, beautiful bill," which aims to provide tax relief, spending cuts, a significant investment in border security, strengthen military readiness, and bolster American energy dominance. Thune stated, “We’re going to work very hard to be good partners with him in achieving it.”

Discussing budget reconciliation, Thune explained the importance of adhering to Senate rules, notably the Byrd Rule, which affects the voting process. He commented, “It’s a huge, consequential thing that we get this right, and that’s why we are working closely with his team, with the White House.” He mentioned challenges in securing the necessary votes but expressed confidence in the President's assistance to meet the deadlines, potentially seeing progress by the Fourth of July.

Thune also highlighted Republican priorities in the reconciliation process, emphasizing a "generational investment in the border" and addressing national security, including nuclear weapons and naval shipbuilding. He remarked on extending the 2017 tax relief measures and additional priorities from the President, stating, “we’re working with him to make that happen.” Thune indicated that collaboration between various committees aims to produce a comprehensive legislative package for the American people.
