U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune appeared on Fox News' "Fox and Friends" with hosts Brian Kilmeade, Ainsley Earhardt, and Lawrence Jones to discuss several key issues, including budget reconciliation, Medicaid reforms, air traffic control modernization, and SALT deductions.

On the topic of budget reconciliation, Thune stated that Republicans are focused on lowering taxes for Americans while accommodating President Biden's economic policies. He emphasized the president's focus on working Americans through tax measures like no tax on tips or overtime and reducing Social Security taxes. According to Thune, these measures aim to stimulate economic growth by creating better-paying jobs.

Addressing concerns about Medicaid reforms, Thune mentioned the nation's $38 trillion debt and proposed work requirements for able-bodied adults receiving benefits. He criticized Democrats for what he termed "Medicaid fearmongering," stating that their attacks were politically motivated. Thune argued that focusing on waste, fraud, and abuse in programs like Medicaid is essential to ensure funds reach intended beneficiaries such as low-income individuals and disabled populations.

Thune also discussed the importance of modernizing the air traffic control system. He expressed support for Secretary Duffy's efforts to prioritize this initiative and assured that necessary resources would be provided.

Regarding SALT deductions, Thune explained the rationale behind capping them in 2017 was to prevent low-tax states from subsidizing high-tax states. While acknowledging the impact on certain regions, he suggested that a reasonable solution should be found without excessive financial strain.
