U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune addressed the Senate floor today, outlining the legislative agenda for June and expressing concerns over recent violent incidents.

Thune began his remarks by referencing an attack in Boulder, Colorado, where a man with incendiary devices targeted an event highlighting Israeli hostages in Gaza. "Eight individuals were injured, at least two so severely that they had to be airlifted to a burn unit," Thune said. He emphasized the need to condemn antisemitism and stand with Jewish communities.

The legislative focus for June includes confirming presidential nominees and advancing key bills. Thune noted challenges posed by Democrats but stated that Republicans are still confirming civilian nominees at a faster rate than previous administrations.

A priority this week is the GENIUS Act, aimed at establishing a regulatory framework for stablecoins to protect consumers and maintain U.S. leadership in financial innovation. Additionally, work will begin on a rescissions package targeting wasteful government spending.

Thune highlighted efforts to support President Trump's diplomatic initiatives regarding Russia's involvement in Ukraine, emphasizing the need for tools to encourage peace negotiations.

Lastly, extending tax relief from 2017 is crucial, as it affects Americans earning less than $400,000 who face potential tax increases if no action is taken. The goal is to finalize this legislation before July 4th.

"It's going to be a very busy month," Thune concluded.
