Cost of college went up for all students at the Western Dakota Technical Institute

Tuition and fees rose 4.8 percent for 2018-19 at the Western Dakota Technical Institute, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

South Dakota students paid $7,710 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $350 more than the $7,360 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 153 students received grants or scholarships totaling $703,710 and 133 students took out student loans totaling more than $716,799.

Including all undergraduates (1,061), 682 students used grants or scholarships totaling $3.8 million, and 619 students took out $4.1 million in federal student loans.
