U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune addressed the 52nd annual March for Life rally in Washington, D.C. His speech emphasized the importance of life and encouraged attendees to continue their efforts in advocating for the rights of all human beings.
During his address, Thune expressed gratitude for the opportunity to speak at the event and shared his admiration for those participating. He stated, "Ladies and gentlemen, I’m grateful to the March for Life for inviting me to be here with you today." He further added, "And I am nothing short of inspired looking out at all of you."
Thune highlighted the fundamental belief that all people are created equal with certain unalienable rights. He reminded those present that these include "the right to life, to liberty, and to the pursuit of happiness."
He acknowledged the challenges faced by pro-life advocates but urged them not to feel isolated in their mission. Thune said, "I want you to remember, you are not alone," pointing out that they are part of a larger movement united by shared values.
Citing religious texts, Thune referenced Psalm 139 as he spoke about every human being's inherent value. He reiterated his support for pro-life efforts alongside many congressional colleagues: "And like you, we will continue to work toward a day when the lives of all human beings are protected."
Thune concluded with a message of hope and determination: "But we have the truth on our side... And I am confident that at the end of the day, truth will win."
The rally saw tens of thousands march up Capitol Hill as part of this annual demonstration.
